Notes:

Late snows and cold weather this spring have provided temporary relief from the drought in Rio Arriba County.

February forecasts were for the drought to persist and intensify throughout nearly the entire state of NM.

Fracking operations for oil and gas use copious amounts of water, estimated somewhere between hundreds of thousands and up to 13 million gallons per well.

Fracking contaminates as much groundwater as it uses.

Flowback and produced water are difficult to reclaim.

An EPA report is due out this year to reportedly address shale fracking, and what it costs us in water quality.
